Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time, 37,5 hours per week . Working hours between 8am-6pm.

Role Summary

A new, combined Armed Forces Recruitment Service (AFRS) will launch in 2027,replacing the individual schemes run by the Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Air Force.

Optima Health is proud to partner with the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) in providing critical recruitment services for the UK's Armed Forces. For the first time, this new approach will see the Royal Navy, the British Army, and the Royal Air Force have a joint Armed Forces Recruitment Service (AFRS). This service will be delivered through a partnership of the MOD, Serco, and our consortium of partners, providing end-to-end support from candidate attraction, medical screening through to assessment, onboarding, and preparation for attending Phase 1 training.

Optima Health Medical Assessments will conduct the new Tri- Service medical assessment bringing the Army, Navy and RAF processes into one, a single medical process for entry to all three services.

The Lead Technician plays a key role in ensuring all Technicians within the clinic team achieve agreed targets for time, cost, and quality. Based at a clinic, the Lead Technician undertakes clinic delivery alongside their team, while also providing support to the Regional Biometric Manager and stepping into a management capacity in their absence.

This role is ideal for an experienced Technician looking to progress, offering the opportunity to lead by example, mentor and support colleagues, and conduct audits, while still remaining hands-on, typically undertaking 3 - 4 technician days per week. The role does not carry direct reports, with all team members reporting into the Regional structure; some travel between sites should be expected.

This position offers a clear progression pathway, with future opportunities to move into Regional or Head of Department roles.
