Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Stafford, UK, is seeking a Mechanical Systems and Validation Engineering Manager to lead the mechanical development and validation for Perkins 4000 and 5000 Series engines.

You will guide validation for performance, reliability and durability while building and mentoring a team of engineers. You will work with product leads, engine architects and global teams to define objectives, deliver robust validation programmes, and ensure powertrain solutions meet customer, regulatory

Qualifications

• Significant experience in mechanical development and validation of engines.
• Knowledge of engine, system and component validation best practices.
• Familiarity with NVH data collection and analysis.
• Familiarity with modelling complex mechanical systems.
• High competence in the use of data analysis tools such as Excel, Minitab, Matlab/Simulink, Osiris, Diadem, and/or Concerto.
• Experience of DFMEA and DVP creation.

Responsibilities

• Create Engine System FMEA and validation plans (DVP).
• Governance of DVP updates with simulation and validation results.
• Plan and execute engine build and test plans for validation across facilities.
• Identify field test requirements and secure customer agreement for field follow tests.
• Monitor field data and translate into DVP reporting and validation cycles.
• Governance of pre-production reliability development and issue closure.
