Job summary

A Local Government department is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to support the delivery of mechanical building services and infrastructure projects across its safety‑critical estate. The role covers assets such as Mersey Tunnels, bus depots, ferry terminals, and other transport facilities in the region.

You will lead mechanical works, develop scopes, review designs, and coordinate surveys while ensuring compliance and operational readiness in live environments.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of mechanical building services.
• Knowledge of statutory compliance and safety requirements.
• Experience in planned maintenance, life cycle replacement and asset management.
• Awareness of energy efficiency and decarbonisation principles.
• Strong contractor and consultant management skills.
• Ability to manage costs, programmes and risks.
• Experience delivering works in complex, live, safety‑critical environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate mechanical works across a range of operational buildings and transport environments.
• Develop technical scopes and briefs for projects.
• Review and challenge mechanical designs.
• Manage consultants and contractors.
