Lead Mechanical & Piping Engineer - Gas Projects

Location: Warrington

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of Mechanical and piping engineering and design within multi-discipline EPCM or EPC projects.
  • Manage projects ranging from Concept Design to Execution Designs.
  • Deliver projects across various sectors (Oil & Gas, Energy, Utilities, Nuclear, Chemicals, and Food), including both small and large projects.
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers.
  • Drive quality in engineering designs and projects, including the checking and approval of design deliverables.
  • Ensure designs comply with CDM regulations and other relevant standards and specifications.
  • Manage mechanical and piping design within defined scope, time, and budget, including change control and consistency with other disciplines.
  • Participate in internal and external design reviews and ensure design acceptance by the client.
  • Make independent decisions on issues, providing expert technical support within the mechanical engineering team.
Your Profile

If you have the following profile, then we are looking forward to meeting you:

  • Hold a qualification in Mechanical Engineering, preferably to Degree level (BEng or MEng).
  • Demonstrable experience (5 years plus) as Lead / Senior / Principal Engineer in multi-discipline engineering projects.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) with IMechE or equivalent institute (Preferable).
  • Working knowledge of general engineering standards and specifications (Essential) and IGEM standards and specifications (Preferred).
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of mechanical engineering and their implementation in design.
  • Understanding of other disciplines (Civil, Structural, EC&I, and Process).
  • Experience in producing mechanical specifications, basis of design, scopes of work, calculations, drawings, 3D models, schedules, design risk assessments, and compliance assessments.
  • Experience with piping design codes to ASME and BS EN standards.
  • Experience working to the requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) and Pressure Equipment Safety Regulations (PESR).
  • Result-oriented; satisfied only when design is accepted and client is pleased with performance.
  • Ability to plan and organise activities effectively, understanding dependencies within mechanical discipline and with other disciplines.
  • Familiarity with main mechanical design packages including AutoCAD, Plant3D, E3D, Caesar II.
  • Implement solid change control procedures and communicate budget and planning consequences of changes.
  • Lead and motivate teams to achieve targets.
  • Develop and present design packages to clients, ensuring they meet job scope.
  • Prepare for chairing design review meetings.
  • Able to meet UK security clearance requirements (Preferable).
