  • Experience with AHU's, FCU's, LTHW, pumps, pipework, valves, and water systems.
  • Pipe fitting experience is desirable.

Equans UK & Ireland is seeking a Lead Mechanical Fitter/Engineer to work on the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital contract. This is a permanent, full-time position, working 40 hours per week, offering a competitive salary and benefits.

Role Overview
  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and inspections of mechanical building services in compliance with standards, legislation, and operational procedures.
  • Represent the company professionally and respectfully.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical and related building services.
  • Respond promptly to breakdown requests.
  • Assist with installation, minor upgrades, and adaptations.
  • Conduct systematic fault finding on equipment.
  • Follow safe working practices, operate access equipment and tools safely.
  • Maintain accurate records and work flexibly with colleagues.
  • Participate in callout/standby rota after qualifying period.
  • Coordinate with wards and departments to minimize disruption.
  • Undertake training to develop skills and knowledge.
  • Perform risk assessments and collaborate with team members.
  • Use initiative for decision-making, including out-of-hours work.
  • Complete job cards and paperwork diligently.
  • Finish tasks within set timeframes and undertake additional tasks as needed.
Additional Skills

Impact & Complexity

The role involves executing planned and reactive maintenance to ensure statutory and contractual obligations are met, contributing to the effective operation of healthcare estate and extending equipment lifecycle. Duties require competence and collaboration with technical support teams.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Previous maintenance experience.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Maintenance Services or equivalent.
  • Experience with AHU's, FCU's, LTHW, pumps, pipework, valves, chilled and potable water systems, and water hygiene systems.
  • Pipe fitting experience (desirable).
  • Experience with PPM & reactive work.
  • Authorised Person Mechanical Systems.
  • Experience with steam systems (desirable).
  • Work on plumbing systems.
