Job summary

Griffon Marine Ltd in Fareham is seeking a Shipyard Mechanical Engineer to lead production activities, monitor progress and ensure assemblies meet exact specifications, budgets and timescales. You will drive continuous improvement and mentor a multi-skilled team on site.

You will work with customers and staff at all levels, apply mechanical engineering principles, review drawings, and ensure health, safety and environmental standards are upheld across projects.

Qualifications

• Experience of leading a production team within a similar project environment.
• Capable of working with customers and staff at all levels.
• Ability to work independently abroad for current customers.
• Experienced in Lathe & Mill operator.
• Proven experience in Marine Industry.
• Knowledge or experience with engines.
• Understanding of technical mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Follow schedules to maintain delivery dates.
• Forward planning to ensure projects follow schedules.
• Develop and apply mechanical engineering principles; identify, analyse and solve complex engineering problems, ensuring practical and cost-effective solutions.
• Ensure mechanical systems meet quality standards through testing and validation.
• Maintain health and safety standards within department.
• Take responsibility to ensure environmental policies are enforced in full.
• Reduce the frequency and severity of workplace accidents by implementing comprehensive safety programs and promoting safe behaviours.
• Motivate staff to achieve departmental and personal objectives.
