Job summary

Mane Contract Services invites applications for Lead Mechanical Engineers to work on next-generation land systems for a leading UK defence organisation in Ampthill. The role focuses on designing and delivering robust mechanical systems for military vehicles and mechanisms in harsh environments.

You will use CREO and Windchill daily, collaborate across engineering disciplines, and manage activities across the product lifecycle. On-site attendance is required, with a flexible four-day week.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Strong background in defence or industrial automation sectors.
• Extensive experience using CREO CAD software.
• Experience using Windchill PLM software.
• Understanding of complex mechanism design principles.
• Ability to perform basic structural and kinematic calculations.
• Proven track record of delivering products for harsh environments.
• Knowledge of materials, treatments and finishing technologies used in defence products.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to plan, schedule and coordinate engineering activities.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of mechanical systems and components.
• Produce high-quality mechanical designs from concept through to manufacture.
• Design complex mechanisms and assemblies for defence applications.
• Perform structural and kinematic calculations to support design activities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver programme objectives.
• Plan, coordinate and manage engineering activities across the product development lifecycle.
• Ensure designs are suitable for harsh environments and meet defence standards.
• Utilise CREO and Windchill to develop and manage mechanical design data.
• Provide technical expertise throughout the design and product development process.
