Job summary

Sustainable Talent in Warrington is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical packages from concept through commissioning on major natural gas and energy projects across the UK.

The role requires a strong background in AGIs, gas transmission and pipeline projects, with exposure to PFDs, P&IDs, pressure regulation and metering systems. You will mentor junior engineers and liaise with clients, suppliers and design teams on a 12-month contract.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer.
• Experience in natural gas infrastructure.
• Proven background delivering AGIs, pipeline projects and gas transmission assets.
• Experience with pressure regulation and metering systems.
• Knowledge of process safety, design reviews and engineering assurance.
• Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering packages from concept through to commissioning.
• Review and approve mechanical design deliverables and technical submissions.
• Support the development of PFDs and P&IDs.
• Specify pressure reduction systems, metering equipment, valves, filtration systems and process pipework.
• Participate in HAZOPs, HAZIDs and engineering assurance reviews.
• Ensure compliance with client specifications and industry standards.
• Provide technical guidance to project teams and junior engineers.
• Support procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers and multidisciplinary design teams.

We are recruiting for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join a growing engineering team delivering major natural gas and energy projects across the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced engineers with a strong background in AGIs, gas transmission, gas distribution and pipeline projects to take ownership of mechanical engineering activities across a portfolio of high-profile energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering packages from concept through to commissioning.
• Review and approve mechanical design deliverables and technical submissions.
• Support the development of PFDs and P&IDs.
• Specify pressure reduction systems, metering equipment, valves, filtration systems and process pipework.
• Participate in HAZOPs, HAZIDs and engineering assurance reviews.
• Ensure compliance with client specifications and industry standards.
