Overview

ROLE: Lead Mechanical Engineer
LOCATION: Bristol
TERM: Permanent
SALARY: £50,000 - £60,000, dependent on experience

My client is a specialist manufacturer. They are looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Bristol on a permanent basis. The role will involve designing, testing, and developing bespoke products, and managing a small team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and project manage the design, prototyping, development, testing and introduction of new products
• Manage 4-6 direct reports
• Use 3D CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
• Successfully deliver projects on time and on budget
• Design and develop new products
• Maintain technical documentation as required
• Liaise with manufacturing providers
• Be involved in final assembly of products
• Create the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
• Update 3D models and drawings
• Input parts into the MRP system and create BOMs
• Check drawings for sign off
• Work in a small, multidisciplinary team

Qualifications / Attributes

• Be a self-starter, with strong leadership skills and the ability to think outside the box and own projects
• At least 5 years\' experience in a similar Mechanical Design / Mechanical Testing / Product Development position
• Experience designing bespoke products from scratch
• Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills
• Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Proficient using 3D CAD software such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo etc.
• Knowledge of a variety of materials and manufacturing processes, including sheet metal, machining, injection moulded plastics etc.
• Strong leadership skills
• Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Be able to work well individually as well as part of a team
