A leading company in the aerospace sector is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop next-generation propellers for efficient aeroengines. You will lead design projects, drive innovation, and work closely with operations to enhance product efficiency and manufacturing processes. This role offers the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art facility and contribute to significant engineering advancements.
Responsibilities
Own key design work packages across several NPI programmes and Integrated Product Teams.
Introduce mods and amendments in support of in-service requests, ongoing production and repair operations.
With project managers, contribute to the estimation (scope, time, cost) of assigned work packages.
Manage requirements and specifications.
Identify opportunities to improve system’ and component’ attributes (i.e. efficiency, noise, weight, stress, manufacturability, cost).
Generate and release designs with supporting analyses (DfM & DfA, cost, preliminary stress & dynamics).
Manage risk assessments (incl. DFMEA / PFMEA).
Support development and V&V activities (incl. rig and flight test).
Support plant’ objectives through daily interaction with Operations.
Lead the continuous improvement of design processes and workflows (CAD, CAE, PLM). Identify and document design best practices.
Lead and mentor other staff and trainees.
Qualifications / Requirements
Mechanical engineering degree, aerospace engineering degree or equivalent.
Extensive experience in mechanical design, incl. integration of large assemblies and configuration management.
Demonstrable experience of design for manufacture and assembly.
Existing signatory status for CAD and drawings release (ASME Y14.5 GD&T).
Existing signatory status for concessions and technical variances approval.
Expert knowledge of Catia, Creo or NX.
Desired
Ability to Lead Integrated Product Teams.
Experience of design and CAE analysis of rotating machinery.
Integration of electro-mechanical machines and actuators.
Experience of PTC Windchill.
