As the Lead Material Artist, you will oversee the creation and implementation of high-quality materials across our groundbreaking new IP. You will guide a team of Material Artists and collaborate closely with other departments to ensure our materials meet AAA standards. Your expertise will be pivotal in defining the visual direction of the game, ensuring consistency and quality throughout.
Key Duties Include
- Leading and defining the material creation process, developing high-quality PBR materials and shaders in support of an art team working on a photo-real project.
- Studio-wide responsibility for ensuring materials and shaders are conforming to agreed standards
- Collaborating with Environment, Foliage, Scanning, and Vehicle art teams to produce physically accurate materials and shaders
- Establishing and documenting the material creation pipeline, ensuring clear workflows and efficient processes
- Mentoring and guiding junior Material Artists to foster their growth and maintain quality standards
- Communicating effectively with Technical Artists, Lighting Artists and Render Engineers to achieve the best results.
- Continuously seeking opportunities to improve quality and productivity across the art team
- Extensive experience in creating realistic PBR-compliant materials in the gaming industry
- Strong track record of working on real-time game projects and expertise with render engines
- Proficiency in node-based material authoring tools such as Substance Suite
- Expertise in 3D authoring and rendering software like 3ds Max, Blender, or Marmoset
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage a team effectively
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Experience with photogrammetry and advanced texture capture techniques
