Job summary

ITM Power in Sheffield is seeking a Manufacturing Vision Engineer to lead the design, integration and optimisation of machine vision and automated inspection systems across production equipment.

You will deliver robust AOI solutions, work with cameras, lighting and image processing, and ensure seamless integration into PLC-controlled lines, supporting ramp-up and industrialisation with standardised inspection approaches across multiple machines.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical/automation engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in manufacturing engineering with industrialisation/NPI.
• Experience with machine vision or industrial inspection systems.
• Strong understanding of vision principles: cameras, lighting, optics, image processing.
• Experience integrating vision systems with PLC-controlled equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead integration and commissioning of machine vision systems into production lines.
• Define vision inspection requirements with cross‑functional teams.
• Support equipment integration and ramp‑up phases.
• Develop inspection parameters for stable defect detection.
• Ensure standardized vision approaches across machines and areas.
• Troubleshoot vision system issues including image quality and system communication.
• Collaborate with suppliers to improve vision performance.
• Support industrialisation of new processes with integrated vision.
