Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in heavy engineering, automotive, or aerospace.
  • Thorough knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience of New Product Introduction and design changes.

This role will take full accountability for all manufacturing engineering activities in one or a combination of the following areas of responsibilities: Product design Process design Equipment/Tool design Production system design Automated systems and control Quality & continuous Improvement Responsibilities Design, prove, implement and maintain production systems to deliver product on time, to quality and cost requirements Drive continuous improvement activities in quality, cycle times, process improvement, machine availability through lean techniques and value engineering to enhance the capability of existing processes and remove waste Develop and maintain project plans and budget profiles to ensure delivery of milestones to agreed cost targets and timescales Analyse and improve material usage Analyse downtime, identify trends and develop solutions Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for area of responsibility Ensure the delivery of the People Strategy within area of accountability Lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels, managing holiday allowances, recruitment, training, development, appraisal, attendance, disciplinary issues and daily supervision to maximise efficient productivity Motivate and coach the team to operational success Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required Reward Competitive salary Annual bonus (linked to company performance) 33 days annual leave (Increase after 5 years' service) 37.5 hours per week Flexi time working £5,000 employee referral bonus Health cash plan Contributory Salary Sacrifice Pension Scheme Holiday Purchase Scheme - Salary Sacrifice Electric Car Scheme - Salary Sacrifice Cycle to Work Scheme Life Assurance Scheme at x4 gross salary Competitive enhanced Maternity and Paternity pay IVF & Assisted Conception Policy Women in Business Membership Wellbeing Initiatives Employee Recognition scheme Long Service Awards Local charity / sponsorship activities Dedicated employee parking Discounted Gym membership Learning and development opportunities Career progression Requirements Essential Minimum 5 years' relevant experience in a similar environment, i.e. heavy engineering, automotive or aerospace. Relevant Manufacturing/Engineering degree. HND, BTec Professional Level 5 Award or equivalent NVQ Level 5 qualifications will be considered where proven vocational specialist experience can be demonstrated Experience of New Product Introduction, reworking design changes and upgrades through to production Thorough knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes Working knowledge of Airbus and or Boeing systems and processes Strong working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD Planning and prioritising activities Good communication and interpersonal skills Desirable Experience of leading a team Membership of an industry related professional body We reserve the right to enhance criteria on shortlisting.
