Overview

Job Description Summary

We are actively recruiting for a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to join our PCB team in Cheltenham. In this role youd be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and optimisation of manufacturing processes for printed circuit boards (PCBs).

This role ensures the highest standards of safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) are met while driving continuous improvement initiatives. The PCB Lead Manufacturing Engineer is accountable for managing the load and well-being of their direct team whilst, collaborating with cross-functional teams, including design, production, and quality assurance, to ensure efficient and reliable PCB manufacturing processes.

This role requires a high level of business acumen in a complex manufacturing environment. Technical expertise is not a requirement but is.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety: Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with safety regulations and standards. Identify and mitigate risks to create a safe working environment.
  • Quality: Develop and implement quality control measures to ensure PCB products meet specifications and customer requirements. Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues.
  • Delivery: Optimise production schedules and workflows to meet delivery timelines. Monitor and address bottlenecks to ensure on-time delivery of PCB products.
  • Cost: Drive cost reduction initiatives while maintaining product quality and performance. Identify opportunities for process improvements and waste elimination.
  • Lead the development and implementation of manufacturing processes for PCB assembly, including soldering, testing, and inspection.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability of PCB designs and provide feedback for design improvements.
  • Utilise lean manufacturing principles, such as Kaizen and Standard Work, to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Train and mentor manufacturing team members on PCB processes and best practices.
  • Maintain documentation for manufacturing processes, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies related to PCB manufacturing.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in manufacturing field.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and tools (e.g., Kaizen, Hoshin Kanri, Standard Work).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Experience with automated PCB assembly equipment.
  • Knowledge of PCB design, assembly, and testing processes.
  • Knowledge of IPC standards for PCB manufacturing.
  • Six Sigma certification or equivalent experience.
