Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Maintenance Engineer in manufacturing.
  • Qualified in electrical wiring/installation and mechanical engineering.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and ideally hydraulics is required.
  • Familiar with health and safety practices including Manual Handling.
  • Desirable experience with robotics and air handling systems.

Job description

Role: Lead Maintenance Engineer

Location: South Birmingham

Hours: 6am - 2pm

Pay: 45,000 - 48,000

Role Overview

We are looking for a Lead Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering & Manufacturing client's team in South Birmingham.

Duties to be performed
  • Carry out repairs, servicing, and preventive maintenance on all factory machinery, equipment, and facility systems.
  • Support daily maintenance operations, troubleshoot breakdowns, and assist with new equipment installations.
  • Develop and implement a planned preventative maintenance (PPM) system and follow the TPM schedule.
  • Collaborate with suppliers for servicing, repairs, and installations, and provide training to staff on maintenance best practices.
  • Contribute to plant safety, housekeeping, and continuous improvement to ensure efficient and reliable production performance.
Experience required
  • Strong numeracy, literacy, and computer skills, with basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Minimum 5 years\' experience as a Maintenance Engineer in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Qualified in electrical wiring/installation and mechanical engineering, with knowledge of pneumatics and ideally hydraulics.
  • Experience with robotics, air handling systems, humidification, and filtration processes is desirable.
  • Familiarity with health and safety practices (Manual Handling, Working at Heights, IPAF) and factory information systems such as Rhombus.
