Job description

Overall Purpose of the Role:

As a team lead, manage the DevProx team on a day-to-day basis and serve as the first point of contact between DevProx and the business and other IT teams. Provide direction and manage key deliveries as per business requirements. Be responsible for organizing and managing business prioritization of deliveries, with the ability to communicate at different levels of management.

Work on projects for the CM IT DevProx team (Proximity Development), providing the Commodities Market business with flexible, scalable, and tailored software applications where proximity developments and resources are necessary.

Main stakeholders include Front Office (trading, sales, structuring) and support/control teams (Middle Office, Risk). The role is hands-on, involving development and management of projects from initiation to delivery, focusing on pricing tools, market data, risk management, and reporting tools.

The team contributes to designing and implementing a resilient, efficient, and scalable information system for CM, collaborating closely with IT, business, and operational teams in London and worldwide.

Responsibility Breakdown:

Work closely with Head Office teams in Paris, especially DevProx, leveraging processes and being adaptable to project and BAU support issues.

Strong, clear, and precise communication skills (oral and written) are essential. Speaking French is an advantage.

Main Responsibilities:

• Provide technical solutions to business needs following best practices and standards.
• Drive change and promote strategic solutions for long-term benefits.
• Manage business expectations and demonstrate urgency on business issues.
• Develop and support pricing tools for commodities, market data, risk management, and reporting.
• Ensure support and maintenance within an agile framework.
• Follow the in-house proximity development lifecycle: needs collection, analysis, solution proposal, implementation, support, and documentation.
• Recommend architectures, technologies, and IT solutions.
• Analyze, solve problems, and escalate issues as needed.
• Adhere to software development standards, methodologies, and procedures.
• Collaborate with CM IT Quants, MOA, MOE, and other teams.
• Conduct training and skills assessments regularly.
• Follow branch compliance rules.
• Propose new projects, lead development topics, and explore innovative solutions, new business activities, and efficiency opportunities.
• Report progress to management, support trading hours, and manage on-call support for US desks.
• Ensure system stability, operational risk mitigation, and minimize outages.

Business Experience Required:

• Development & maintenance of IT systems
• Financial markets knowledge
• Understanding of derivatives
• Exposure to front-office environments
• Knowledge of commodities trading (preferred)
• Minimum 10 years of experience, including 2-3 years as a team lead
