Job Description

A leading hedge fund is seeking a Senior Lead Linux Engineer to join a high-performance infrastructure team supporting global low-latency trading systems. This is a hands-on engineering role with strong ownership across design, automation, performance tuning, and deployment.

You will lead strategic improvements to the firm’s Linux environment, enabling new trading strategies, supporting expansion to new markets and co-location sites, and ensuring trading applications run with maximum reliability and minimal latency.

This is a senior-level, highly technical role that goes beyond day-to-day operations and is central to their infrastructure strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and optimize global Linux infrastructure for ultra-low-latency trading workloads
  • Automate system deployment and configuration using tools like Python and Ansible
  • Analyze and tune kernel and system performance to meet demanding latency targets
  • Collaborate closely with software engineering and trading teams to support scaling efforts
  • Maintain and evolve systems across a global network of co-located environments

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Linux systems (Debian and RHEL )
  • Deep understanding of system performance tuning, especially in low-latency environments
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Ansible); familiarity with Nix/NixOS is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive engineering mindset
