Job summary

Omega Red Group is seeking a Lightning Protection Test Engineer to join our field-based team in Milton Keynes. You will inspect, test, and maintain lightning protection and buried earthing systems across commercial and industrial sites, ensuring safety and compliance.

You will lead on-site surveys, install and commission height safety equipment, and deliver clear inspection reports with practical recommendations to clients.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within lightning protection or a related electrical/earthing discipline.
• Working knowledge of relevant lightning protection standards and regulations.
• Experience in a field-based engineering, testing or inspection role.
• Strong attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.
• Experience within construction, engineering or other technical environments.
• Confidence using specialist testing equipment and digital reporting systems.
• Flexible approach to travel and site-based work.
• Full UK driving licence (essential).

Responsibilities

• Carry out survey, installation, testing, inspection, and maintenance of height safety systems.
• Lead on-site projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high standards.
• Mentor and support engineers and operatives, developing technical skills.
• Deliver excellent customer service and build relationships with clients.
• Ensure health and safety compliance via risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
• Contribute to pre-tender surveys with technical input.
• Produce inspection and testing reports, identifying defects and recommended remedial actions.
• Install and commission height safety equipment per industry standards.
• Support continuous improvement across the business.
