Creative Assembly is seeking a Lead Lighting Artist to join our talented team for our new project, a sequel to Alien: Isolation.

This role is based at our studio in Horsham, UK, with the possibility of hybrid work within the country. Further details will be discussed during recruitment. As a Lead Lighting Artist, you will be responsible for creating balanced and atmospheric lighting for in-game environments, enhancing atmosphere, visual storytelling, and gameplay experience.

On a daily basis, you will:

  1. Work closely with the Art Director to define and execute lighting direction.
  2. Maintain lighting and post-process pipelines, balancing artistic vision with technical constraints.
  3. Manage the lighting team, providing mentorship, feedback, and support.
  4. Collaborate with rendering engineers on lighting requirements and implementation.
  5. Work with design and environment teams to optimize lighting for player experience.
  6. Ensure lighting meets performance budgets.
  7. Communicate effectively across disciplines and stay well-organized.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience (Essential):

  • 5+ years of experience in lighting for video games.
  • Keen artistic eye with attention to detail, understanding of colour theory, composition, and visual storytelling.
  • Working knowledge of modern lighting techniques.
  • Strong awareness of industry technology trends.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • UE5 experience.
  • Familiarity with shader and texture creation.
  • Previous leadership experience.
