Job description

Creative Assembly is looking for a Lead Lighting Artist to join our talented team to work on our new project, a sequel to Alien: Isolation.

This role will be based at our studio in Horsham, UK and can be offered as hybrid within country of employment. Further details can be discussed during the recruitment process.
As a Lead Lighting Artist on the team, you will be responsible for creating balanced and atmospheric lighting for in-game environments that enhances atmosphere, visual storytelling and gameplay experience.

On a day-to-day basis, you will:
  • Work closely with Art Director to define and execute lighting direction for the project.
  • Maintain lighting and post-process pipeline, balancing artistic vision with technical constrains.
  • Manage lighting team providing mentorship, feedback and support
  • Collaborate with rendering engineers identifying lighting requirements and overseeing their implementation.
  • Work with design and environment teams to ensure lighting delivers the best player experience
  • Optimise lighting and ensure it meets performance budgets
  • Communicate well, with all disciplines, and be well organised.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
  • 5+ years of experience in lighting for video games
  • Keen artistic eye with attention to detail, combined with an understanding of colour theory, composition, and visual storytelling.
  • Working knowledge of modern lighting techniques
  • Strong awareness of industry technology trends
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
Desirable
  • UE5 experience
  • Familiarity with shader and texture creation
  • Previous leadership experience
