Job summary

Windsor Forest Colleges Group is seeking a Lead Learning Support Assistant to join our Foundation Department at Slough and Langley campuses on a full-time, term-time only basis. The role involves 37 hours per week over 38 term-time weeks per year, with pro-rata salary on H scale.

Responsibilities include facilitating direct academic support for students with EHCPs, leading lessons in the lecturer’s absence, supervising other LSAs, and coordinating with tutors to tailor activities for SEND needs.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 qualifications (GCSE grade 4/C or equivalent) in English, Mathematics and ICT.
  • Demonstrable experience supporting individuals with a wide range of SEND needs, including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, PMLD, and SLD.
  • Strong professional initiative, accountability, and proven organisational skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive practice and a deep understanding of neurodivergent perspectives.

  • Maintain daily administrative duties including registers and student profiles.
  • Manage specialist 1:1 learning equipment and appointments (e.g., Speech and Language Therapy).
  • Assist students with assignments, exam preparation, and core English, maths, ICT skills.
  • Support patients in mobility-impaired learners with pastoral teams.

Job description

Lead Learning Support Assistant

Windsor Forest Colleges group is looking for a Lead Learning Support Assistant to join our Foundation Department at our Slough and Langley campus on a full‑time, term‑time only basis.

This Lead Learning Support Assistant role involves working 37 hours per week over 38 term‑time weeks per year. The role pays on Scale H of the Support Staff pay scale offering a pro‑rata salary of H19 £23,274.31 up to H22 £25,580.07 (H19 £27,284 up to H22 £29,987 FTE).

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate direct academic support for students, ensuring provision strictly aligns with individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Lead lessons in the lecturer’s absence and manage classroom dynamics across scheduled and ad‑hoc sessions.
  • Supervise and guide fellow Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to maintain consistency and quality of support.
  • Collaborate closely with tutors to plan, adapt, and evaluate learning activities that meet the needs of students with SEND.
  • Maintain daily administrative duties including registers, student profiles, and performance reporting.
  • Manage specialist 1:1 learning equipment and support specialist appointments such as Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Assist students with assignments, exam preparation, and core English, mathematics, and ICT skills.
  • Work with pastoral teams to help students overcome physical, emotional, and learning challenges, including support for mobility‑impaired learners.
