Job summary

Portsmouth City Council is seeking an experienced Landscape Architect to join the Design Team and support the Capital Projects Service in delivering public realm, regeneration and environmental improvement programmes.

The successful candidate will independently lead and contribute to landscape-led and multidisciplinary projects from feasibility and design through procurement, construction, completion and operation, requiring strong design ability, professional judgement and excellent

Qualifications

Holds an undergraduate honours degree or postgraduate degree in landscape architecture or related discipline.
Chartered Membership of the Landscape Institute preferred but not essential; if not chartered, extensive relevant experience is required.
Have at least three years of relevant professional experience delivering landscape/public realm projects.
Demonstrate ability to analyse places, identify constraints and opportunities, and communicate a coherent design response.
Expert knowledge of landscape planning, hard and soft landscape design, construction detailing, procurement, contract administration and aftercare.
Practical knowledge of planning and environmental requirements including biodiversity net gain, sustainable drainage, green infrastructure, accessibility, trees and ecology.
Experience of coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing client/consultant input.
Experience preparing tender information, assessing submissions, and managing contracts and value for money.

Responsibilities

Lead and contribute to landscape-led and multidisciplinary projects from feasibility through to operation.
Manage multiple projects and competing demands with professional judgement and communication.
Coordinate input from clients, consultants, contractors and statutory bodies.
Prepare tender information, assess submissions and oversee construction and defect management.
