Job summary

Vertus Partners in London is seeking a Lead Engineer to shape the next generation of front-office trading technology. This hands-on role involves architecture influence, platform direction, and delivering business-critical applications used by trading teams.

You will modernise a large-scale technology estate, build high-performance systems, and partner closely with users to solve complex workflow and data challenges.

Qualifications

Strong software engineering background with deep Java expertise.
Experience delivering low-latency, real-time trading systems.
Understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
Experience designing APIs and deploying in containerised environments.
Experience with enterprise-level databases.

Responsibilities

Designing and building scalable, real-time applications that support trading and market-facing workflows
Leading technical design across backend services, APIs and user-facing applications
Working directly with stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technology solutions
Driving adoption of modern engineering practices, testing approaches and development standards
Contributing to architectural decisions across distributed, event-driven platforms
Helping evolve platform capabilities, tooling and deployment processes
