Job summary

HCL Technologies Limited is seeking a Lead Java Engineer - Full Stack Developer to join our RMS Trade Processing platform in London. You will contribute to a strategic, fintech-focused system handling complex OTC derivatives across the trade lifecycle, from booking to settlement, using Java, Spring Boot, and React.

You will drive architecture decisions, own end-to-end delivery, and mentor a dynamic team while ensuring quality, security, and regulatory compliance across backend and frontend

Qualifications

• 8+ years in enterprise software development with Java/Spring Boot.
• Experience building modern web apps with React/TypeScript.
• Design and implementation of RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Strong focus on test-driven development and quality engineering practices.

Responsibilities

Lead Java Engineer - Full Stack Developer (Java & React)

RMS Trade Processing is a strategic platform acting as the primary record for financial products across the Bank, with a strong focus on complex OTC derivatives. It supports the full trade lifecycle - from initial booking and enrichment through amendments, allocations, and lifecycle events (such as roll, unwind, exercise, and expiry), to clearing, settlement, and downstream risk reporting - ensuring consistent and reliable trade representation across front, middle, and back office systems.

As the RMS platform continues to expand its coverage of supported commodity products and trading flows, we are looking for a Lead Java Engineer to strengthen our experienced and dynamic team. Our technology stack includes Java, Spring, Kafka, Oracle Database, and React, offering opportunities to work across both backend and frontend components of a business critical system.

Your key responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and modern web technologies.
• Drive technical architecture decisions and ensure solutions meet functional, non-functional, security, and regulatory requirements.
• Own the end-to-end software development lifecycle, from solution design and implementation through deployment and production support.
• Produce clear and comprehensive technical documentation covering architecture, design decisions, APIs, operational processes, and support procedures.
• Support incident management, root-cause analysis, and implementation of long-term preventive measures.

Your skills and experience

• Extensive experience (8+ years) in enterprise software development using Java (Java 17+ preferred), Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and related backend technologies.
• Strong experience developing modern web applications using React, TypeScript.
• Proven expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Strong commitment to test-driven development, automated testing, and quality engineering practices.
