Job summary

Gazelle Global Consulting Limited seeks a Lead Engineer - Java Backend to drive backend delivery on a major UK banking programme. Hybrid work with 2 days in the office across Edinburgh/London.

You will own technical delivery, shape engineering solutions, and coordinate with distributed teams to build secure, scalable services. Lead the end-to-end lifecycle from design through testing, integration and release, ensuring quality, security and performance.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Java 8+ with Spring/Spring Boot.
• Experience designing REST APIs and microservices.
• Kafka and event-driven integration experience.
• GCP cloud deployment and Docker/Kubernetes exposure.
• CI/CD with Jenkins, Git and SonarQube.
• Agile delivery using Scrum; Jira/Confluence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Java backend delivery lifecycle from design to release.
• Collaborate with architecture, product, DevOps and offshore teams.
• Ensure quality, security, performance and reliability standards.
