Job summary

The American Society of Civil Engineers in Wigan seeks an experienced Principal Infrastructure Engineer to lead infrastructure design projects, ensuring technical excellence, commercial awareness, and effective team coordination.

You will manage multiple schemes, provide strategic technical direction, and maintain strong relationships with clients and approving authorities, while guiding and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• 5-10+ years' experience in a similar role within a consultancy environment.
• Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or related discipline).
• Strong working knowledge of highway design and drainage/highway supports.

Responsibilities

• Manage, lead, and deliver infrastructure designs for multiple projects on time and within budget.
• Negotiate technical approvals for adoptable works (S104, S38, S278).
• Oversee highway and drainage strategies, ensuring high-quality outputs.
• Maintain effective communication with the internal design team, clients, and external stakeholders.
• Support and mentor junior engineers where appropriate.
