Job summary

South Hampshire College Group in the United Kingdom seeks an experienced Infrastructure Engineer (Cyber Security) to lead cyber security monitoring and 2nd line infrastructure support within Group IT. You will shape secure-by-design practices across servers, networks, cloud services, storage and core platforms, aligning with SAHARA principles.

The role emphasizes hands-on delivery, strategic thinking and collaboration with external partners, ensuring GDPR compliance and effective incident

Qualifications

• Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments.
• Hands-on with cyber security technologies and monitoring.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft server and cloud technologies.
• Experience with network infrastructure, firewalls, and security controls.
• Experience responding to cyber security incidents and remediation.
• Understanding of security frameworks and best practices.
• Experience working with third-party suppliers and partners.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure environments.
• Knowledge of Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001 or similar frameworks.
• Experience with endpoint security and SIEM platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and continuous improvement of cyber security controls, standards, and procedures.
• Act as technical lead for monitoring, vulnerability management, security hardening, and incident response.
• Monitor security alerts, threat intel, and emerging risks; coordinate responses.
• Analyse trends and vulnerabilities; implement risk-based improvements.
• Coordinate remediation activities and provide technical assurance across infrastructure.
• Support security investigations, containment, recovery and post-incident reviews.
• Ensure compliance with GDPR, Cyber Essentials, ISO standards, and security frameworks.
• Design, implement and maintain secure infrastructure solutions using least-privilege principles.
• Provide 2nd line support across servers, networks, cloud, storage, and core platforms.
• Work with stakeholders to deliver effective solutions; ensure resilience and availability.
