Reports to: Director of Early Childhood Education

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-Time Infant Room Lead Teacher to join our team. This role is center-based, providing high-quality, safe, play-based childcare and education to 5-8 infants between ages 3 and 23 months.

Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and knowledgeable Lead Infant Teacher to join our team. This individual will lead our infant classroom, providing responsive caregiving and developmentally appropriate, inclusive learning experiences for children ages 3 months to 24 months. The ideal candidate has strong infant experience, holds a valid California Lead Teacher Permit, and thrives in a collaborative, child-centered, LOVING environment.

This position requires a deep understanding of infant development and inclusive practices, as well as the ability to partner closely with therapists, families, and special educators to ensure every child’s needs are met with care and intention.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the primary educator and caregiver in our infant classroom (3–24 months)

Create and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based, and inclusive lesson plans

Ensure a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that supports early development in all domains (social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and language)

Collaborate with therapists, special educators, and families to create and support individualized care plans

Supervise and mentor assistant teachers and interns in the infant room

Maintain compliance with licensing and health/safety regulations
Communicate daily with parents and caregivers to build trust and share developmental updates

Participate in all staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities

Qualifications Required:

Associate’s Degree in Child Development or related field

Valid California Child Development Lead Teacher Permit

At least 2 years of experience in an infant classroom, including 1 year in a lead role

Demonstrated knowledge of infant development, responsive caregiving, and inclusive classroom strategies

CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

PITC (Program for Infant/Toddler Care) training or similar coursework
Experience working with children with disabilities, complex medical needs, or IFSPs

Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and inclusion-based teaching models
