Job summary

GSL Education Newcastle is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) in Newcastle. The role supports pupils, leads planned activities, and works with teachers to maintain high learning standards. Immediate start and flexible day-to-day/long-term assignments offered.

Qualified HLTA or equivalent experience is required, with strong classroom management, communication, and teamwork. DBS update service or willingness to apply is requested.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience supporting learning with increased classroom responsibility.
• Confidence delivering pre-planned activities to groups and classes.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management understanding.
• Excellent organisation, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).

Responsibilities

• Lead planned lessons and activities during short teacher absences.
• Deliver focused interventions to individuals and small groups.
• Use assessment information to track progress and provide feedback.
• Guide and support other classroom assistants when coordinating activities.
• Prepare resources and adapt materials for different abilities.
• Promote independent learning and pupil ownership of work.
