Job summary

BakerHicks in the UK is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead the Highways team, delivering high-quality civil engineering design across a range of projects. You will prepare and review technical packages, supervise junior engineers and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver approved designs.

The role requires Chartered or near Chartership, strong drainage, earthworks and SuDS capabilities, proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD, and a robust understanding of UK standards.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering with continuing professional development.
• Chartered, Incorporated or nearing Chartership through a relevant institution such as ICE, CIHT or IHE.
• Demonstrable experience in civil engineering design, especially drainage, earthworks, SuDS, pavements and utilities.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
• Experience with drainage design/modelling software (InfoDrainage, MicroDrainage, Causeway Flow, PDS or InfoWorks ICM).
• Knowledge of UK adoption standards and current UK technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver civil engineering design packages, including drawings, specifications, calculations and reports.
• Develop civil engineering solutions covering drainage, earthworks, SuDS, pavements and utilities.
• Obtain technical and regulatory approvals for design packages.
• Identify and implement practical, innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
• Manage small project teams and coordinate deliverables within multidisciplinary projects.
• Mentor and support development of engineers, graduates and apprentices.
• Provide occasional construction-stage support when required.
