Job summary

Liverpool City Council is recruiting a Principal Engineer – Highway Design to lead the development, design and delivery of highway schemes across the city’s network. You will provide technical leadership, manage projects within budget and deadlines, and review external designs to ensure quality and compliance.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, proven highway design delivery experience, and strong communication, problem-solving and IT skills.

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will hold a Civil Engineering degree or equivalent.
• Experience leading delivery of highway design services/projects within tight budgets and time constraints.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and IT skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, design and delivery of highway projects on the City Council’s network.
• Provide technical expertise, project management and leadership to ensure high-quality designs within budget/funding constraints.
• Ensure designs comply with recognised standards and review external design work for quality and compliance.
