Job summary

Derby City Council is seeking a Void HGV Chargehand to lead a hands-on team in preparing properties for Derby Homes, clearing bulky waste, and managing on-site activities. The role requires supervision, strict health and safety adherence, and a valid HGV license.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence including HGV
• Experience in clearance and cleaning duties
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures and PPE
• Supervisory experience and ability to work independently and use initiative.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all workforce wear PPE and safe clothing; enforce safety procedures.
• Daily vehicle, tool and equipment checks; report faults and carry out rectifications.
• Report accidents, incidents and complete paperwork promptly.
• Inspect work carried out by team members and ensure quality.
• Read worksheets; raise concerns; complete worksheets accurately.
• Ensure safe working practices, risk assessments, and COSHH where applicable.
