Job summary

Morson Human Resources Limited is seeking a Principal / Lead Hardware Engineer for a major defence programme in Luton. The role focuses on developing advanced digital and mixed-signal hardware, FPGA/SoC architectures, and high-speed interfaces across the full product lifecycle.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-performance electronic hardware for safety and mission-critical applications, including board bring-up, verification, and qualification activities on-site.

Qualifications

• Experience in defence/aerospace or highly regulated industries.
• Proven FPGA/SoC hardware design experience.
• Strong PCB design and high-speed interface knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex digital and mixed-signal hardware.
• Develop architectures for FPGA, SoC and processor-based solutions.
• Produce schematics and support PCB layout for high-speed designs.
• Design and validate interfaces such as DDR memory, PCIe, Ethernet.
• Integrate hardware with embedded software and FPGA solutions.
• Perform simulation, verification and design analysis.
• Support board bring-up and hardware debugging.
• Collaborate with Systems, Software, Firmware, RF, Mechanical and Manufacturing teams.
• Support environmental, EMC/EMI and qualification testing.
• Produce engineering documentation throughout lifecycle.
