NUVIA UK is seeking a Lead Geotechnical Engineer to embed within the STEP Design Authority to define, integrate and assure the geotechnical design basis for the STEP Prototype Plant.

The role focuses on ensuring foundation performance, ground stability and soil–structure interaction for safety‑classified and non‑safety‑classified structures under normal, seismic, extreme and faulted conditions, with ALARP justification for the DCO and safety case.

Qualifications

• Professional geotechnical engineering knowledge expected.
• Experience with nuclear/defence infrastructure is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to manage geotechnical risks and support safety cases.

Responsabilités

• Define geotechnical design basis aligned with STEP safety requirements.
• Assess liquefaction, settlement, bearing capacity and slope stability risks.
• Develop ground improvement strategies for large, seismic-sensitive structures.
• Integrate geotechnical data into STEP digital twin and lifecycle processes.
• Provide defensible geotechnical arguments for safety cases and regulatory reviews.
