Penguin Recruitment in Reading is seeking an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead a varied portfolio of geotechnical projects. You will mentor junior staff and drive growth while delivering from ground investigations to detailed design and reporting.

The role requires chartered status or progression toward Chartership, a strong geotechnical background, and excellent communication skills, with a hybrid working arrangement and generous leave.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline.
• Chartered status or working towards Chartership.
• Strong background in geotechnical design and ground investigations.
• Experience managing projects and maintaining client relationships.
• Excellent reporting and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Leading and managing geotechnical projects from tender stage through to completion.
• Planning, specifying and supervising ground investigations.
• Producing and reviewing geotechnical interpretative reports and foundation recommendations.
• Undertaking geotechnical analysis including foundations, retaining structures, earthworks and slope stability.
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to graduate and intermediate engineers.
• Liaising with clients, contractors and design teams.
• Preparing fee proposals and supporting business development.
• Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to high technical standards.
