Job summary

The Christie NHS FT in Manchester is seeking a Consultant Gastroenterologist with a specialist interest in Clinical Nutrition to establish our Nutrition Support Team (NST) within a leading cancer centre. This substantive part-time post (5 PAs) offers exclusive focus on nutrition support, with no general gastroenterology, endoscopy, or on-call commitments.

Based within the Nutrition and Dietetics Department, the successful applicant will lead NST ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and MDT

Qualifications

MRCP and GMC registration with license to practice.
Possession of or eligibility for CCT or CESR.
Higher degree (MD/PhD) in gastroenterology, nutrition or related field.
Qualifications in oncology and experience in nutrition support.

Responsibilities

Provide specialist gastroenterology and nutrition input for complex nutrition support.
Lead Nutrition Support Team ward rounds and MDT meetings.
Develop and promote the NST in line with national guidance.
Support education, research activity, and quality improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with dietitians, nurses, pharmacists, oncologists and surgeons.
Ensure safe initiation and monitoring of parenteral and enteral nutrition.
