Job summary

United Living Group is seeking a Lead Gas Engineer to oversee gas servicing, maintenance and installation work in social housing properties. You will supervise engineers, ensure compliance with Gas Safe and safety regulations, and coordinate daily workloads to meet SLAs.

You will provide technical guidance, manage LGSR records, and handle escalations, while maintaining excellent tenant relations and safety standards across site operations.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience as a Gas Engineer in social housing or domestic properties.
  • Previous supervisory or team-leader experience in a gas maintenance environment.
  • Strong knowledge of domestic gas servicing, repairs and installations.
  • Excellent understanding of Gas Safe regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing workloads and supporting engineers in a field-based environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Good communication with tenants, clients and internal teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced maintenance environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of gas engineers delivering servicing, breakdowns, repairs and installations in occupied and void social housing properties.
  • Ensure all gas works comply with Gas Safe regulations and safety legislation.
  • Plan and allocate daily workloads to meet SLAs and contract requirements.
  • Monitor engineer productivity and quality through audits and site inspections.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineers for diagnosing complex faults.
  • Complete LGSR records accurately and on time.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues and escalations from tenants or housing officers.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings and training to maintain safety standards.
  • Maintain high levels of customer service when working in tenants’ homes.
  • Liaise with housing associations, contractors and internal teams to coordinate works.
  • Monitor stock usage, van audits and materials to ensure efficient resource use.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding and performance management of engineers.

Job Purpose

The Lead Gas Engineer is responsible for overseeing the delivery of gas servicing, maintenance, and installation works within social housing properties. The role ensures all gas-related works are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise a team of gas engineers carrying out servicing, breakdowns, repairs, and installations within occupied and void social housing properties.
  • Ensure all gas works comply with Gas Safe regulations, Health & Safety legislation, and company procedures.
  • Plan and allocate daily workloads to engineers to meet service level agreements (SLAs) and contract requirements.
  • Monitor engineer productivity, performance, and quality of work through regular audits and site inspections.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to engineers when diagnosing complex faults.
  • Ensure all servicing and maintenance records, including LGSR (Landlord Gas Safety Records), are completed accurately and submitted on time.
