Job summary

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust in Prestwich is seeking a Consultant Practitioner Psychologist to lead the Women’s Secure Blended Service (WSBS) as a Band 8c. The post is permanent, part-time (22.5 hours per week) with flexible working options.

You will provide strategic and clinical leadership, oversee governance and supervise staff, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver trauma-informed, gender-sensitive care within forensic mental health services.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration is required.
• Experience in forensic mental health settings is essential.
• Experience supervising and managing qualified psychologists.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert psychological leadership within WSBS, guiding strategic planning and service transformation.
• Embed governance to ensure safe, high-quality care delivery by psychological services.
• Lead complex assessments and formulations, ensuring trauma-informed, gender-sensitive care.
• Offer risk assessment expertise and integrate into multidisciplinary decision making.
• Provide consultation, supervision and training across the wider Adult Forensic Service.
• Support national Women’s Transformation Work and embed best practice standards.
• Lead service evaluation, research and quality improvement initiatives.
