Lead Floating Foundations Project Engineer, Edinburgh

Overview

Eden Scott is partnering with an Offshore Wind Developer to appoint a Lead Floating Foundations Engineer. The role involves supporting the development of a 1 GW Offshore Wind Project, focusing on floating offshore wind technology. The position is based in Scotland, France, or Spain, with a salary up to £75,000 (negotiable) plus bonus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support offshore wind site selection and participate in technical meetings.
  • Focus on floating offshore wind projects and their commercialisation.
  • Lead design and analysis of floating substructures, mooring, and anchoring systems at various project stages.
  • Translate engineering issues into CAPEX and OPEX considerations.
  • Provide technical guidance to design teams and consultants.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to substructure mooring and anchors.
  • Ensure collaboration among design teams and compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct audits and monitor compliance with CDM regulations.
  • Engage technically with external stakeholders including consultants, contractors, and grid operators.
  • Contribute to technical reports and detailed due diligence.
  • Ensure quality standards and health and safety regulations are met.
  • Evaluate new products, concepts, and technologies.
Minimum Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience in offshore wind projects, especially floating foundations.
  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or relevant offshore engineering discipline.
  • Experience in design or installation of floating foundations.
  • Knowledge of offshore wind site selection, foundation types, ground conditions, and installation procedures.
  • Solid understanding of foundation design, hydrodynamics, structural dynamics, and fatigue analysis.
  • Familiarity with international offshore wind design codes and standards.
  • Strong communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to translate engineering issues into CAPEX and OPEX.
  • Understanding of wind turbine technology and grid connection issues.
  • Experience in preparing technical specifications and documents.
  • Knowledge of offshore health and safety legislation.
