Job summary

Join SUEZ in the UK as a Fire Safety Specialist responsible for leading fire strategy implementation and expert advice across internal teams. You will review designs, identify safety shortfalls, and embed corrective actions to ensure regulatory compliance and best practice.

You will develop and maintain fire safety policies, evacuation plans and emergency arrangements while engaging with authorities and stakeholders to deliver compliant projects.

Qualifications

• Fire risk assessment experience in high-hazard or construction settings.
• Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, BS 5839, AB, BS 9999, NFPA codes and BS 12845.
• Expertise in fire hazard identification and mitigation.
• Effective stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Familiarisation with WASTE 28 documentation.
• Experience in fire system design and upgrades.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of the SUEZ fire strategy.
• Provide subject matter expert advice on fire safety to internal teams.
• Review fire system designs, upgrades and project proposals for compliance.
• Address fire safety shortfalls and develop robust improvement recommendations.
• Build relationships with stakeholders for compliant delivery.
• Support investigations following fire incidents and embed corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain fire safety policies, evacuation plans and emergency arrangements.
• Support the development of Fire Prevention Plans.
• Undertake complex fire risk assessments for Energy from Waste and plants.
• Produce and develop retrospective fire strategies.
• Create fire strategies for new buildings via design reviews (RIBA guide).
• Engage with process engineering to integrate fire safety into processes.
• Advise on fire safety legislation, building regulations and engineering principles.
• Design and deliver fire safety training programmes for various audiences.
• Liaise with enforcing authorities, fire services, and auditors.
• Build relationships with site teams and contractors to influence safe behaviour.
• Stay updated with evolving fire safety standards and best practice.
• Engage with technology providers to identify protective fire solutions.
