Job summary

Airbus Operations Limited in Filton is seeking a Lead Fatigue & Damage Tolerance (F&D T) Engineer to drive wing analysis across multidisciplinary teams. You will sign off F&D deliverables, shape analysis scopes, and mentor junior engineers to build robust fundamentals and tool proficiency.

You will lead cross-functional integration with Design, Manufacturing, Materials & Processes to deliver lightweight, manufacturable wing structures.

Qualifications

• Proven experience holding or readiness to qualify for delegated approval signatory status for F&D T analysis.
• Proficiency in Airbus methods and tools (ISAMI, GISEH, Nastran, HyperWorks).
• Ability to lead technical engineering packages to agreed time, cost, and quality gates.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with appetite for digital innovation and process improvement.
• Excellent communication translating complex analytical data into decisive summaries.

Responsibilities

• Act as the formal signatory for F&D structural deliverables, ensuring CS-25, safety, airworthiness, and customer requirements compliance.
• Define, scope, and direct F&D analysis packages across internal teams and suppliers.
• Mentor and develop junior to mid-level stress engineers in first-principles thinking and tool proficiency.
• Collaborate with PMT and Digitalization teams to integrate automated stress workflows and sizing tools.
• Serve as the structural interface with Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials & Processes to achieve optimized designs.

How you will contribute

• Technical Signatory & Certification: Act as the formal signatory for F&DT structural deliverables, verifying compliance with CS-25, safety, airworthiness, and customer requirements.
• Technical Project Steering: Define, scope, and direct F&DT analysis packages, managing delivery across internal multidisciplinary teams, Chief Engineers, and risk-sharing suppliers.
• Mentorship & Capability Building: Guide and develop junior to mid-level stress engineers, cultivating robust first-principles understanding, tool proficiency, and technical decision-making.
• Process & Tool Transformation: Collaborate with Process, Methods & Tools (PMT) and Digitalization teams to integrate automated stress workflows, parametric scripts, and next-generation sizing tools into daily engineering practices.
• Cross-Functional Integration: Serve as the structural interface with Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials & Processes, and Flight Physics to achieve optimized, lightweight, and manufacturable designs.

About You

• Signatory Credential: Proven experience holding or readiness to qualify for delegated approval signatory status for F&DT analysis
• Methods & Toolsets: High proficiency in Airbus methods and tools (e.g., ISAMI, GISEH, Nastran, HyperWorks) alongside strong classical hand-calculation capabilities.
• Leadership & Delivery: A proven track record of leading technical engineering packages to agreed time, cost, and quality gates, with the confidence to challenge and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
• Problem-Solving Mindset: A proactive approach to technical resolution, with an appetite for digital innovation, automation, and continuous process improvement.
• Communication: Proven ability to communicate clearly and translate complex analytical data into decisive, high-level summaries.
