Job Description

As our Lead Surveyor, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering the Council's strategic goals through expert property management, planning and development leadership. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Leading delivery of the Council's Asset Management Plan for key strategy and development sites
  • Managing the Council's property disposal programme
  • Overseeing our in-house planning consultancy service, including S106 and CIL negotiations to support education provision
  • Developing and implementing strategies for the Council's most significant development sites
  • Leading high-value acquisitions and disposals, ensuring optimal long-term outcomes for the Council
  • Collaborating with internal planning, regeneration, and housing teams to unlock development potential


The Successful Applicant

We'll provide support, training and a collaborative environment-but to thrive in this role, you'll ideally bring:

  • Full RICS membership, with 5+ years post-qualification experience in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • A proven track record in real estate strategy, site acquisition/disposal, and development planning
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and the ability to deliver outcomes that balance economic, social, and community value
  • In-depth knowledge of local authority planning and asset management frameworks, including education-related development
