Role: Lead English Teacher

Location: Leyland

Salary: M1-UPS2 (Dependent on Experience)

Hours: Monday to Friday, Full-time

We are currently working in partnership with an SEN School in Leyland where the needs of the children are number one priority. The school are currently looking for a Lead English Teacher to become a permanent member of their School team. This is a rewarding opportunity for the right Teacher to really make a difference... About the school:

The school has small class sizes with no more than 8 pupils in a class and the pupils are provided with two pathways including a GCSE route or functional skills route. Additionally, the School also offer vocational qualifications via the Personal Development Programme. The setting caters for students ages 9-16 who have an EHCP in place, therefore their approach to learning is child centered with a focus on ensuring all students are prepared with a mix of qualifications and life skills. Students in this setting have communication and behavioural challenges associated with Autism.

Key Responsibilities for the Lead English Teacher:

- Co-ordinate English within the whole school.

- Manage and lead with a great approach to assessment of progress

- Ensure literacy interventions are co-ordinated, delivered and tracked

- Develop English as a specialist and successful dimension of the curriculum

- Support with careers options

- Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to provide training sessions

- Build strong relationships with students, parents, and carers to support the overall well-being and academic progress of each student

Requirements for the Lead English Teacher:

- Full UK Driving License and access to own transport is essential

- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching English

- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English language and literature

- Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with SEN, SLD/PMLD and ASD

- Understanding of safeguarding

- Experience of managing challenging behaviour and using a varied approach

- Experience of successfully delivering lessons to students with various needs.
