Job summary

Reed Specialist Recruitment is seeking a commercially focused Project Manager in Birmingham to lead complex engineering projects from concept to completion. You will own a diverse portfolio, coordinating engineering, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, installation and commissioning teams.

The role demands strong planning, customer-facing skills and a track record in budgets and project financials, with PRINCE2 or similar methodologies and ERP/Excel proficiency.

Qualifications

• A degree qualification in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience managing engineered-to-order, equipment, manufacturing, or industrial projects.
• Strong project planning, stakeholder management, and customer-facing skills.
• A commercially aware mindset with experience managing budgets and project financial performance.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies such as PRINCE2 or similar.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience using ERP systems and advanced Excel skills would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Managing multiple concurrent engineering and equipment projects from initiation to completion.
• Developing and maintaining project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
• Acting as the primary point of contact for customers throughout project delivery.
• Coordinating activities across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, installation, and commissioning teams.
• Managing project risks, change orders, contractual obligations, and commercial performance.
• Monitoring project costs, revenues, cash flow and profitability.
• Providing regular progress reports and forecasts to internal and external stakeholders.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery processes and efficiency.
