The preferred candidate is expected to perform technical project activities during the project lifecycle, including programming based on technical specifications, validation, and site activities. In-depth hands-on experience & knowledge of GE control systems for both Electric Utility & Industrial markets for the Grid Solutions business is required.
This role involves working with defined parameters to make decisions, applying concepts to moderate complexity issues, and resolving issues through immediate action or short-term planning. The position reports directly to the Engineering team leader.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Analyze Technical Leader's specifications and identify appropriate solutions to build the system database.
- Understand designed systems and recommend changes when necessary.
- Assist technical leader in resolving technical issues to achieve delivery requirements.
- Support control system engineering tasks including database configurations, upgrades/modifications, communication network configurations, cybersecurity, and testing on mirror platforms.
- Manage fault reports & customer complaints following defined procedures.
- Support in detecting variation opportunities.
- Conduct Validation, FAT, and SAT as System Engineer.
- Provide technical guidance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, repair, and maintenance at customer sites, ensuring comprehensive reports are generated.
- Resolve hardware, software, or performance-related system issues.
- Address network communication issues at hardware and software levels.
- Coordinate with CoE and others for product & system issues.
- Assist with training activities, including classroom and commissioning-based training.
- Develop and expand technical knowledge of new products and systems, adhering to industry standards.
- Provide weekly timesheets and monthly reports on work status and other relevant information.
- Maintain knowledge of reporting systems for timely and accurate field information input.
- Support engineering, sales, and commercial teams with feedback and experience.
- Adhere to GE policies and procedures, including safety and integrity standards.
- Work safely, report accidents, and ensure good housekeeping practices.
- Ensure compliance with quality, environmental, health, and safety policies.
- Maintain safety awareness to meet GE safety standards.
- Ensure RAMS are produced and approved before work execution.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- BSc. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with demonstrated experience in control systems.
- Strong knowledge of SCADA, communication protocols, and media.
- Proficiency in Windows OS, Microsoft Office, and database applications.
- Experience with programming, testing, and commissioning electrical control systems, including SCADA/HMI, cybersecurity, network equipment, IEC61850, firewalls, routers, etc.
- GE DS Agile DCS and aView HMI programming experience is highly desirable.
- Proven knowledge of GE Substation automation solutions preferred.
- Experience in networking, communication protocols, and OT cybersecurity.
- Ability to travel locally and globally, with a valid driver's license.
