Qualifications

  • 3-5 years' experience in mission-critical environments, preferably IT/Telecoms.
  • Recognized formal electrical training and HV Authorized Person experience.

Job Description

Your role

The Lead Engineer directs the daily operations of the Site Team and manages associated activities and vendors to ensure the Data Center operates safely, within SLA, and with minimal risk. As the main point of contact, the Lead Engineer oversees all activities of the Technical Operations Site Team, ensuring timely delivery of reactive and planned maintenance tasks, full utilization of the CMMS system, and appropriate incident management.

What you'll do
  • Ensure safety protocols, regulatory standards, and permit systems are followed. Lead responses to building services infrastructure issues, coordinating with Site Engineers and third-party specialists when needed.
  • Manage planned and reactive maintenance on building infrastructure, ensuring compliance with CMMS and operational procedures.
  • Monitor SLA adherence, communicate with client representatives, and manage incident processes effectively.
  • Support Data Center and Site Management teams with communication, technical information, and coverage planning.
  • Lead incident management, maintaining and issuing reports via CMMS.
  • Operate within Service Operations processes and site-specific SOPs. Act as HV Authorized Person, handling safe isolations and permit issuance.
  • Develop and review operating procedures for normal and emergency situations.
  • Ensure statutory compliance, conduct testing, and address non-compliance within deadlines.
  • Supervise Specialist Service Contractors with support from Site Engineers, including inductions and minor works approval.
  • Supervise subcontractors to ensure compliance with work permits, RAMS, MOP, and site regulations.
What you'll need
  • 3-5 years' experience in mission-critical mechanical & electrical environments, preferably in IT/Telecoms.
  • Experience in data centers or similar environments is essential.
  • Knowledge of DC infrastructure components (UPS, Generators, Cooling).
  • Recognized electrical training (City and Guilds, etc.).
  • Experience with critical building infrastructure (Electrical, Mechanical, Building Fabric).
  • AP15 course and HV Authorized Person certification.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical diagrams.
  • Experience with maintenance systems.
  • Self-driven, organized, able to prioritize multiple tasks, with attention to detail.
  • Strong customer focus and reliability.
