Job Description:

Lead Civil and Structural Engineer

We are seeking a Lead Civil and Structural Engineer to lead the design and delivery of civil and structural works for railway station infrastructure projects. This role involves managing station upgrades, refurbishments, access-for-all schemes, and structural assessments following industry standards.

Based in Warwick with a hybrid working model, you will oversee a team of engineers and technicians through the full project lifecycle, ensuring designs are safe, compliant, and cost-effective, supporting modern rail station operations.

Key Responsibilities
Technical & Design Leadership
  • Lead design of railway station structures including buildings, platforms, canopies, footbridges, retaining walls, and foundations.
  • Ensure designs meet railway standards and regulations.
  • Oversee assessments, inspections, and temporary works.
  • Provide input on materials and interfacing with other disciplines.
Project & Team Management
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams and allocate resources.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders to meet deadlines.
Compliance, QA & Delivery
  • Ensure work complies with regulations and standards.
  • Review technical documents and contribute to cost estimates.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Lead technical discussions with clients and stakeholders.
  • Support bid teams with technical expertise.
Requirements
Qualifications
  • BEng/HND in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered or working towards Chartership (e.g., ICE or IStructE).
  • Valid PTS or willingness to obtain it; relevant Network Rail training is advantageous.
Technical Skills
  • Experience in civil/structural design for railway infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and 3D modelling tools.
  • Knowledge of BIM workflows and construction materials.
Soft Skills
  • Leadership and team coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for reports and stakeholder engagement.
  • Business acumen for project budgets and risks.
