Checkit uniquely combines smart sensors and workflow software to provide the analytics and insights that complex organisations need to deliver a safer, more efficient and streamlined service to their customers. Our clients are spread across the healthcare, biopharma, assisted living, food service, retail and facilities management sectors.
One of our core products is our Connected Workflow Management app, which allows large enterprises to manage the activities of their deskless workforce, maximising efficiency and streamlining operations. This role is to lead the ongoing development and management of the app, working with our customer facing teams to ensure that the app continues to meet changing customer demands. This is a great opportunity to own the technical direction and development of this app while also being fully hands-on as a developer.
We are looking for an experienced Lead-level Mobile Engineer, or a Senior Engineer looking for a move to Lead, with substantial experience of developing apps in Swift and Kotlin. This is an almost entirely remote based role, with quarterly meetings in Cambridge the only travel requirement.
What you'll be doing
- Designing and developing high quality, testable software for mobile applications, specifically Checkit’s proprietary Connected Workflow Management app.
- Working with product management and other engineering teams to implement new features with a highly usable and consistent look-and-feel.
- Understanding current infrastructure and stack in order to employ best mobile app solutions.
- Creating reusable, effective, and scalable code.
- Identifying bottlenecks and bugs in the system and developing solutions.
- Contributing to the architecture of our applications and use of AWS services.
- Debugging applications & services to support our field engineering, customer support and customer success teams.
- Working with a dedicated app tester to ensure that software is delivered to a high standard and rigorously tested.
- Playing a crucial role in driving technical excellence throughout the wider engineering function, working closely with other Lead Engineers from various teams and disciplines to promote collaboration and consistency of approach, upholding our coding standards.
What we're looking for
- Highly proficient as a Mobile App Software Engineer, for both iOS and Android.
- A demonstrable portfolio of released applications on the App store or the Android market.
- In-depth knowledge of the programming languages Swift and Kotlin. Knowledge of developing in Kotlin multiplatform is key.
- Drives adoption of best practices.
- Ability to automates complex deployment workflows and ensure security compliance.
- Innovative in mobile app development methodologies and technologies.
- Able to defines organisational strategies for mobile platforms.
- Knowledgeable in mobile development, capable of influencing standards.
- Strategic thinker with great analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experienced influencer and communicator, able to effectively manage up, down and cross functionally. Ability to communicate optimally with both technical and non-technical multi-functional teams.
- Track record of operating autonomously across multiple teams.
- Experience in fostering cross-functional working relationships.
