Job description
Overview

Bringing the most cutting-edge physical and digital technologies together to create oilfield equipment is the beating heart of our work. We collaborate with multiple internal teams across the subsea product groups to ensure that our materials meet the design requirements and manufacturing schedule required to create our final product. You will be responsible for the materials engineering deliverables at product level on Subsea Production Systems projects globally. The role is part of the SPS Global Materials Engineering department and will work in close cooperation with Regional and Product line Engineering Departments. This role is located at our Production Control Systems (PCS) Centre of Excellence in Nailsea, Bristol. Familiarity with Subsea Production Systems in general and PCS equipment specifically is desirable but not mandatory.

Responsibilities
  • Leading the materials engineering efforts on product levels for assigned projects and tenders with efficiency and integrity.
  • Performing contract reviews and highlighting exceptions and clarifications.
  • Communicating to project or tender teams to ensure that requirements and consequences are fully understood.
  • Populating and using systems for requirements management, clarification registers, change tracker, risk register, etc., for the materials engineering discipline.
  • Managing performance to budget for materials engineering on assigned projects.
  • Raising variations and changes in due time to PEM and PM.
  • Overseeing and managing client communications and interactions on the assigned project.
  • Follow up of materials manufacturing and welding activities, with review of supplier documentation.
  • Having an overview on Metallic and Non-metallic Material Selection, Corrosion and Corrosion Control, Chemical/Material Compatibility, Coatings and Insulation and Manufacturing Methods.
Qualifications
  • BSc or MSc in Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Corrosion or Welding from an accredited college or university with significant experience within the Materials Engineering field, ideally in the offshore or subsea oil and gas industry.
  • Experience in material selection for specific designs.
  • Understanding of corrosion mechanisms and corrosion prevention.
  • Understanding of material manufacturing and fabrication processes such as forming, forging, heat treatment and welding.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
  • Ideally familiar with industry standards such as NORSOK, ISO, ASME, API, ASTM, DNV, etc., as well as design and fabrication requirements for Subsea Products.
