Job summary

Arthur Rose Recruitment is recruiting a Lead Electrical Engineer for a well-established heavy industry/FMCG company in the Wakefield area. The role is on a days-only basis and requires overseeing electrical and mechanical activities across sites.

You will lead a small engineering team, maintain and improve plant equipment, respond to breakdowns promptly, and drive on-site installations while ensuring safety compliance and thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• Apprentice-trained electrical engineer with hands-on experience in heavy industry environments.
• Experience leading small teams of engineers in FMCG or similar 24/7 production settings.
• Experience with power distribution, generators and UPS, plus instrumentation/controls knowledge.
• Familiarity with PLCs, motor control, and variable-speed drives; able to work on call-out basis when required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain existing plant and equipment and support on-site installations.
• Lead and support the engineering team across sites to reduce downtime.
• Respond to breakdowns promptly to minimise production losses.
• Improve current systems and update technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and review safety systems.

Job description

We are working are working with a well established Heavy Industry/FMCG company based in the Wakefield area, They are looking for a lead electrical engineer to join them on a Days only basis

Job Role:

• Maintaining excising plant and equipment and assisting with new installations on site.
• Supporting the wider engineering team across sites
• Respond to breakdowns efficiently in order to reduce machine downtime and increase production across site, minimising breakdowns through regular PPM's.
• Improving current systems on site including any technical documentation.
• Complying with all health & safety regulations and reviewing safety systems.

Job Requirements:

• Technical knowledge and capability to handle the Electrical and Mechanical engineering activities of their plant.
• Experience leading a small team of Engineers
• Apprentice trained in a relevant electrical engineering discipline.
• Experience with Power Distribution, Emergency Generators and UPS systems.
• Familiarity with Instrumentation and Process Controllers.
• Practical knowledge of PLCs, Motor Control and Variable Speed Drives,
• Experience, preferably in a 24/7 Production Environment.
• Working on a Call Out basis when required.

• Qualified in 18 Edition BS7671 Electrical Regulations. - Advantageous
• H.V. Awareness Qualification. - Advantageous
